Reviewing Schedule

ARR followed 8-week review cycles from October 2022 through February 2025. After extensive deliberation and community feedback, the ACL Peer Review Committee recommended moving to 10-week cycles, beginning with the May 2025 cycle. Submission deadlines are now set individually for each cycle rather than fixed to a particular day of the month; please refer to the schedule below for current dates. Under the 10-week schedule, ARR generally runs five cycles per year, allowing more reasonable timelines for review tasks, author responses, and platform maintenance. Cycles can begin on Mondays and follow a more consistent schedule with fewer weekend conflicts. Because the transition occurred partway through 2025, ARR ran four cycles that year.

This table lists all the key dates, by which the authors may need to take action, for the upcoming cycles following the new schedule:

Note that in addition to submission and author response dates, the following action points are now listed, as non-compliance may result in desk rejection or sanctions:

Designated contributor registration deadline. The OpenReview account listed as the service contributor will see a new console in OpenReview immediately upon paper submission (not necessarily the final version). Papers not providing a qualified contributor within max allowed capacity will be subject to lottery. See here.
Responsible NLP Checklist. It is now a separate form, to be completed 48h after submission deadline at the latest. See here.
OpenReview profile and ORCID registration deadline for ALL authors. Starting from October 2026, ALL authors must register OpenReview accounts (email registration no longer sufficient), including their ORCID. More details here. We are aware that it may be difficult to get in touch with all authors, and the grace period for this task for the non-submitting authors is as long as we can provide before assignment: one week after submission deadline at the latest. However, at least the submitting author must have a functional profile by the submission deadline. We do not have technical measures for facilitating submissions for authors without profiles.
Review submission deadline. The ‘highly irresponsible’ reviewers who didn’t submit on time without a warning, or submit unacceptable work, may become ineligible to commit their work to the upcoming conference or (re-)submit in the next ARR cycle.
Meta-review deadline. The ‘highly irresponsible’ meta-reviewers who didn’t submit on time without a warning, or submit unacceptable work, may become ineligible to commit their work to the upcoming conference or (re-)submit in the next ARR cycle.

Submission to Participating Venues

Any paper that is not desk rejected will receive reviews. Once authors have reviews they may choose to revise and resubmit for another round of reviews, or commit their paper and reviews to a publication venue.
