Reviewing Schedule

From October 2022 to February 2025, ARR ran 8-week review cycles, with submission deadlines on the 15th of every second month. After extensive deliberation and soliciting community feedback, the ACL Peer Review Committee recommended to ACL exec to switch to 10-week cycles. The new schedule will be in action, starting in May 2025 cycle. The full committtee report is available in the adminwiki.

This means that instead of 6 cycles a year there will generally be 5, but with more reasonable timelines for the review tasks and author response, as well as platform maintenance. It will allow the cycles to always start on Mondays, and develop a consistent schedule that clashes with weekends less (a recurrent problem in the past). In 2025, due to the switch to 10-week cycles enacted relatively late in the year, there was 4 review cycles in total.

This table lists all the key dates, by which the authors may need to take action, for the upcoming cycles following the new schedule:

Cycle Submission Reviewer registration Reviews due Author Response Meta-reviews release date Cycle End
March 2026 March 16 March 18 April 20 April 28-May 4 May 21 May 24
May 2026 May 25 TBA TBA TBA TBA August 2
August 2026 August 3 TBA TBA TBA TBA October 11
October 2026 October 12 TBA TBA TBA TBA December 20

Note that in addition to submission and author response dates, the following action points are now listed, as non-compliance may result in desk rejection or sanctions (see more details at https://aclrollingreview.org/incentives2025):

  • Reviewer registration deadline for ALL authors. The registration link will be active in the author console immediately upon paper submission. ALL authors must register. Not all authors will receive assignments, but non-compliant papers may be desk rejected.
  • Review submission deadline. The ‘highly irresponsible’ reviewers who didn’t submit on time without a warning, or submit unacceptable work, may become ineligible to commit their work to the upcoming conference or (re-)submit in the next ARR cycle.
  • Meta-review deadline. The ‘highly irresponsible’ meta-reviewers who didn’t submit on time without a warning, or submit unacceptable work, may become ineligible to commit their work to the upcoming conference or (re-)submit in the next ARR cycle.

Submission to Participating Venues

Any paper that is not desk rejected will receive reviews. Once authors have reviews they may choose to revise and resubmit for another round of reviews, or commit their paper and reviews to a publication venue.

The upcoming publication venues participating in ARR are listed below. If you represent a publication venue and would like to be added to this list, please see this page.
